SIMAI Technology SRL Holds High-Level Strategic Meeting with Digi Communications N.V.

Feb. 23, 2026

Advancing Energy Storage Integration Across Romania’s Telecom Infrastructure in 2026
Bucharest, February 23, 2026 —
Amid Romania’s accelerating energy transition and rapid digital infrastructure expansion, SIMAI Technology SRL (“SIMAI”) and Digi Communications N.V. (“DIGI”), one of Romania’s leading telecommunications and cable operators, held a high-level strategic meeting today at DIGI’s headquarters in Bucharest.
The meeting focused on strategic cooperation opportunities in residential and commercial & industrial (C&I) energy storage for 2026, with particular emphasis on telecom infrastructure energy optimization and long-term system resilience.
Since 2025, when SIMAI formally entered DIGI’s supplier ecosystem, the two companies have maintained active collaboration in energy-related applications. The latest discussions mark a significant step toward expanding cooperation from product supply to broader strategic alignment.
A Strategic Shift Toward Energy Resilience and Efficiency
During the meeting, both parties acknowledged that:
2026 will represent a structural turning point for Romania’s energy storage market, transitioning from policy-driven growth to efficiency- and performance-driven deployment.
Telecom infrastructure requires increasingly reliable, high-performance energy backup and optimization systems.
C&I energy storage is emerging as a key instrument for energy cost control, peak shaving, and operational continuity.
Distributed energy and digital energy management will play a central role in infrastructure sustainability over the next three to five years.
DIGI emphasized its long-term commitment to enhancing energy independence and operational stability across its nationwide telecom network, including base stations, regional network nodes, and technical facilities.
Three Core Areas of Strategic Exploration
1. Telecom Infrastructure Energy Storage Upgrades
Both parties discussed modernization of battery systems for telecom base stations, integration of high-cycle-life storage solutions, and optimization of peak/off-peak energy management strategies. The objective is to strengthen grid resilience and ensure uninterrupted network operations.
2. Scalable C&I Energy Storage Applications
The meeting addressed deployment scenarios for office campuses, data centers, and core infrastructure facilities, where storage systems can provide peak shaving, cost optimization, and risk mitigation against grid instability.
3. Innovation in Distributed and End-User Energy Models
Leveraging DIGI’s strong market presence and end-user reach, both sides explored forward-looking collaboration opportunities in residential energy storage and integrated home energy management ecosystems.
Building a Long-Term Strategic Framework
SIMAI reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening its local warehousing capacity, technical support capabilities, system integration expertise, and project execution infrastructure to meet the demands of large-scale telecom and C&I storage applications.
The meeting represents not only a continuation of supplier cooperation but also the beginning of a broader strategic dialogue between the telecom and energy storage sectors. As Romania’s energy market evolves, the integration of advanced storage systems within digital infrastructure is expected to become a critical pillar of operational stability and sustainable growth.
SIMAI and DIGI will continue strategic consultations throughout 2026, aiming to translate shared vision into scalable, high-impact projects.
